Samson Siasia's Boys, Finalists In State Championship Chevy Cup

Team Plays Classic I In The Fall & Builds Great Coaching Record For World Cup Player, Samson Siasia

ALPHARETTA, GA – May 10, 2003 – Samson Siasia, head coach of the Under-11 (U11) boys “Orange A” team - one of Georgia’s fastest rising youth teams, won a finalist berth in the Chevy Cup, the State Championship Tournament.  The final match pitted Stars Orange against the Cobb Chiefs (Cobb F.C.) with a final score of 2-4, with the Chiefs pulling ahead towards the end of the game.  Stars Orange scored first to give Georgia’s number one ranked Chiefs their toughest game of the season, according to a Chiefs’ coach.

“Becoming a finalist for the State Championship Chevy Cup is a fabulous achievement.  The players made great efforts, showed determination, and demonstrated their ability to play well – at the highest levels,” says the champion’s head coach, Samson Siasia.  Samson played for the fifth-ranked team in the World, Nigeria’s Super Eagles during the 1994 World Cup held in the United States.  “These young players, from both teams, can develop to play at the highest national and international levels,” he adds.

Interested players or parents are encouraged to visit Mr. Siasia’s Web site at or call to attend a practice with one of his teams.

Samson succeeded in developing excellent sides from recently formed teams, such as these U11 boys, who – at Under-10 - won the state championships in the “B” division within nine months of being formed from recreational players.  The boys were also finalists at TYSA, Champions at Concorde, and earned Classic I ranking for the fall of 2003 - the highest level of state competition.  Mr. Siasia currently coaches teams at U11, U14, and U16, which will be U12, U15, and U17 in the fall of 2003.
