Roswell Hosts “Hornet Folkstyle Classic,” First Annual Youth Wrestling Tournament Announced For January 8, 2005

Junior Varsity & Junior Hornet Programs Host Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget, Novice & Schoolboy Wrestlers

Wrestling Tournament Announced For January 8, 2005

Roswell, GA – December 20, 2004 – Roswell Junior Hornets Wrestling programs, a growing and successful youth wrestling program in north metropolitan Atlanta, announce sponsoring Roswell’s first annual youth wrestling tournament, the “Hornet Folkstyle Classic” on Saturday, January 8, 2004 at Roswell High School. The tournament is open to any youth of ages six (6) to fourteen (14) and entry costs $10. Participants must be members of USA Wrestling and can purchase this year’s membership card at the weigh-in.

The fee for tournament participation is a $10 tournament fee plus the entry fee.

Participating wresters should find answers to their questions online at http://www.RoswellWrestling.com or by telephoning the coaches, The Roswell Junior Hornet Wrestling team, under head coach Marty Zahm at (404) 304-7078, sponsors and will participate in this club’s first annual youth wrestling tournament. Weigh-in and registration begin the Friday evening before the tournament from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. For participants, the Saturday events begin with registration and weigh-in starting at 7:00-8:00 a.m. for wrestlers in the midget and bantam classes and from 11:30-12:30 for wrestlers in Novice and Schoolboy classes.

For spectators, Matches are expected to begin by 2:00 p.m.

“Roswell High School Wrestling co-sponsors this tournament and youth programs, which feed for the experience that builds strong wrestling teams in high school,” said Travis Carr, head coach of the Roswell Hornet Junior Varsity (JV) wrestling program and winner of a Georgia state individual wrestling title.

“Roswell Junior Hornet Wrestling is pleased to have an annual tournament that serves younger wrestlers in their pursuit of this sport that builds strong individuals and character,” said Marty Zahm, head coach of the Junior Hornets.

Spectators and participants must purchase tickets at the door at $3 per head for adults or $2 per head for children. About Roswell Wrestling, Junior Varsity & Junior Hornets Roswell Hornet Wrestling provides younger, youth wrestlers with growing Junior Varsity and Junior Hornet wrestling programs that offer great coaching, the opportunity to develop excellent wrestling skills, a safe environment, and success.

This young program is one of the largest in the state and was pleased to see more than half of schoolboy and novice wrestlers advance to the state tournament.

Roswell High School Wrestling sponsors these teams by providing facilities, coaches, and opportunities to compete with the best high school wrestling programs in the State of Georgia. Roswell Hornet Wrestling sponsors programs for grades four through twelve.
