This year we are fundraising for the families of Michael Christopher Childers, and Detective Terence A. Green. We will be memorializing Dietmar Doering, Gene O'Brien Sr., and Imre Pataki.

The event is held at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, 3200 Atlanta Silverbacks Way, Atlanta, GA 30340. The Father Christmas Cup organizers would like to thank the Silverbacks organization for graciously donating field space for more than 10 years. The Father Christmas Cup organizers give many thanks to all who volunteer their time or donate to make this event possible.

The event exemplifies the strength of the Atlanta soccer community. The community consists of youth and adult players, past and present, from local adult leagues. It consists of families, friends, business sponsors, and the many adults who support youth soccer with their time, as coaches, administrators, and referees. About the Father Christmas Cup

The purpose of the Father Christmas Cup is to provide comfort and financial support to a family who will be experiencing their first holiday season without a parent. Each year, the directors of The Father Christmas Cup, Inc., a section 501(c)(3) non-profit, select a beneficiary family or families from the local community. The money is important, but the message of hope and love sent to the family at such a critical time is powerful and life-changing.

The idea for the Father Christmas Cup originated from 1914, World War 1 Christmas Truce, when German and English soldiers stopped fighting and played a soccer match in the middle of no-man's land. This powerful depiction of hope for peace, civility, and regard for one's fellow man is the fundamental basis for the Father Christmas Cup.
